You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

UPDATE: GOP LD18

LD18 August Meeting - August 23
Redistricting

This is a reminder that our monthly meeting is today, August 23rd at 7:00 PM.

Arizona is in the process of creating new boundaries for congressional and legislative districts. The redistricting is handled by the AZ Independent Redistricting Commission and it has been in the spotlight for unfair practices and potentially illegal actions. The statewide process has significant consequences as we try to ensure representative districts in Congress and the Legislature. Mesa is also realigning its council areas, and Maricopa county will also be making changes at the precinct level. We will be discussing where we are at, how we got here, and what we can do.

What's up?

Dirty Politics
Fake Twitter Account and Party Crashers

You have probably heard about the fake Twitter account impersonating Jerry Lewis. The account has since been taken down by Twitter. In addition to the fake Twitter posts, the author was also responding to emails claiming to be Jerry Lewis. Further, and even more disturbing, is the fact that the author was posting links to gay porn. These actions are taking it far beyond parody status.

Also, Russell Pearce was recently at a private, invitation only event. The event was interrupted by disruptive protesters. There were accusations of assault and other inappropriate behavior. The protesters were ultimately escorted out of the event by law enforcement officers.

It does not matter which side of the recall you are on. It doesn't matter which candidate you support. It doesn't matter if you are Republican, Democrat, or Independent. These and other actions don't belong in the political activities of our community, state, or nation. Let's get involved; let's get passionate; but, let's be statesmen; let's do it with respect.
